Frederick Leslie Ransome, Ph.D. (1868–1935) was an American geologist, born at Greenwich, England. He was educated at the University of California (S.B., 1893; Ph.D., 1896). He was employed by the United States Geological Survey. His many official reports and bulletins dealt mainly with phases of economic geology. He helped found the journal ''Economic Geology'' in 1905, and was associate editor of the ''Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences''.
